Federal COBRA regulations require employers with twenty (20) or more employees, who offer medical and dental insurance benefits, to offer health insurance coverage for up to eighteen (18) months to employees upon termination. Penalties for failure to comply with COBRA are $100 per employee or family member (up to $200 per family) per day, per violation.
