As a business owner, it’s important to understand the main use of a business brochure and the elements to include in it. In this article, we’ll discuss the most important parts of the brochure and then link to some resources so you can get a template business brochure.

You should focus on the prospect’s problem that you can solve for that kind of prospect. For example, you can create a brochure to appeal to the problems you solved for your largest customers, and then get the brochure in front of prospects with the same problems. Then, you can change the brochure template to appeal to the problems you solve for smaller customers, and get it to similar prospects. This kind of customization allows a pre-printed brochure to at least be targeted to a like-minded group of prospects.

When you talk about your product features, make sure to include the benefits to the prospect. For example, a feature is, “Open 24 hours a day”, and the benefit is “So you can use our service according to your schedule.”

Decide how far down the purchase path you want the brochure to take the prospect. If prospect must contact you to sort through complex pricing issues, then work on the brochure to try to get them to contact you. If your product is simple to explain and they can just visit your store to purchase, then consider short print runs of the brochure and include urgency-creating “calls to action” like, “Come see our December discounts.”

Don’t forget to offer a couple ways for a prospect to take the next step in the sales process, whether that if calling your business, filling out an online form, or visiting your store.

Tax W9 Form – Free Explanation and Printable Form

Tax W9 forms are used to collect the U.S. Taypayer’s ID. As a business owner, you may come in contact with this form in two circumstances.

The first is if one of your customers requests that you fill out the form and send it to them so that they can abide by tax law requirements to document their suppliers of products and services. It lets them report their payments made to others.
The second circumstance is when you need a tax W9 form from the outsources and suppliers you cut checks to during the year.

The form is never actually sent to the IRS, but it’s saved by the filer as backup documentation for verification purposes. The information from the W9 and the payments to the provider are usually recorded on a Form 1096 or 1099.

Note that the tax w9 form can also be used to avoid some withholdings. The person cutting the checks must keep withholding taxes on some reportable payments for the IRS. But, if the person being paid indicates on the W9 that they are not subject to backup withholding, then they generally receive full payments.

What are the six parts of a business letter? A Refresher.

We frequently get asked to help create department documentation and templates for our clients who are outsourcing HR functions to us. Many of our client forms are designed to be accompanied with the normal six part business letter. There’s usually somebody on the team that needs a refresher to the question, “What are the six parts of a business letter?”

A six part business letter is more formal than other current means of communication, like email. But, still, there are times when a traditional letter is needed to make a point or to add as much respect to the message as possible. Just follow these steps to creating your six part business letter.

In order of how they appear in the letter, top to bottom, the six parts of the business letter are:

Heading – This includes the return address of the sender and the date. Then add a blank line at the end of this part.

Inside Address – This is the address of who you are sending the letter to. The inside address is where the letter is being sent. Try to also list the recipient’s name and title if you know it. Add a blank line at the end of this part.

Greeting – This is the formal salutation. It normally begins with the word “Dear” followed by the person’s last name or title. End the greeting with a color and then add a blank line at the end of this part.

Body – This is the main message of the letter. This section is usually multiple paragraphs, ending with a summary of the main message point. Add a blank line at the end of this part.

Closing – Most often, the letter Body is followed by “Sincerely” and a comma. The closing’s left margin always matches the Heading’s left margin. Add three blank lines at the end of this part.

Signature – This is the name of the sender, with the sender’s title on the next line.

Following this template will ensure you’re abiding by the common format of the six part business letter.

To have an employee request a letter confirming employment is a new experience for some small businesses. It's important to keep the letter simple and not to divulge any private information that goes beyond the request.

Frequently, these requests for a letter confirming employment are the result of an employee needing to provide back-up documentation when applying for apartments, insurance applications, and when pursuing other financial commitments. Employment Confirmation letters (also called Employment Verification Letters)

Many HR departments have created policies that prevent managers from writing reference letters for past and current employees. There do, however, allow the staff to write employment confirmation letters. They are a safer alternative.

You should equip your HR department with a template to use. The template should be on company letterhead and be stored on your computer network so it can be easily located when needed.

The general format is:

Current Date
Your Contact Information
Greeting
Subject Line ("Letter of Employment Verification for Sally Smith")
Opening Line with the employee's name, your company name and their hire date
The compensation information, including the term (weekly, bi-weekly, annual, etc.)
An offer to be available for answering any questions
