  1. Letter should be pleasant and optimistic, but should also include disclaimers. Disclaimers-these ensure the potential employee knows ahead of time that employment is not guaranteed for a specific length of time and that the job is subject to change.
  2. Salary information should be included. Some employers have unintentionally committed themselves to a year of employment by offering an annual salary without any disclaimers. It’s advisable to include the monetary offer in the smallest pay period (such as a weekly or bi-weekly salary) in case the worst case scenario happens and a judge believes a certain term of employment was offered.
  3. The offer letter should not include all of the specific requirements of the job.
